TerraCycle is one company that is stepping up to the plate to prevent that from happening. Partnering with major retailers and consumer brands, they upcycle post consumer waste turning other people's trash into valuable products.
RailFood
RailFood is an online repository for rail inventory. Often times, railway operators and suppliers need parts and supplies right away. Though they may be able to source the item through their regular channels it could take weeks or even months for an item to be manufactured, packaged, and shipped. That same part could be in stock at a railroad vendor that would otherwise be unknown or too small to be heard. Enter RailFood. Companies of all size have equal access to list items they have or need for everyone to see.
Creative Citizen
While the impact of a single consumer on the environment may be limited, when forces are combined the result can truly be inspiring. Collecting, sharing, and advocating everyday ideas is the goal behind Creative Citizen. Users adopt and improve on creative solutions, gathering expertise and improving the planet along the way.
Sift
When Maven Engineering needed to whittle down thousands of Government solicitations to just a few hundred possible inquiries they turned to Econify. The resultant Sift Web Application does the job in few minutes, shaving days off an otherwise repetitive process. Vendor bids are automatically converted from faxes or emails into PDF format and attached to the appropriate solicitation ensuring a solid documentation history throughout the process.
